🎯 AIM AND OBJECTIVES

In October 2023, incidents broke out at soccer matches in Germany, Turkey, England and France, highlighting a particularly violent day in soccer. A few months ahead of the Olympic Games, France is hit by a wave of football-related violence, with serious incidents involving ultras. Assaults multiplied, some matches were suspended, and the French government banned the entry of visiting fans to matches deemed risky. Sevilla FC had their ultras banned from travelling to Lens due to incidents with Arsenal supporters.

Objectives include raising awareness of the dangers of sports violence, developing conflict resolution skills, promoting respectful behavior, and creating strategies to prevent sports violence in local communities. The project also aims to raise awareness of the Erasmus+ program and its opportunities among young people.

🔍 PARTICIPANTS' PROFILE

We look for participants 18-30 years old and a group leader 18+ years old. Participants, including group leaders, will be members or volunteers of their organizations or young people from their local communities who have contributed to the planning phase of the project. In the sensitive context of the theme of violence, the project will guarantee the participation of at least 2 young people with fewer opportunities per partner, from sensitive neighborhoods and/or exposed to experiences of this type in their immediate environment. The profile of these young people will include those who are unemployed, migrants, school dropouts or at risk of social exclusion. Participants with fewer opportunities will be given the chance to participate even if they have never taken part in an international project due to the obstacles mentioned above, or a lack of information about such opportunities.

🔍 IMPACT

Through this project, participants will gain a deeper understanding of issues related to violence in sport and learn how to identify and address high-risk situations. This will help to increase the social consciousness and critical capacity of young people.During the youth exchange, they will have the opportunity to develop key social and emotional skills such as empathy, effective communication and peaceful conflict resolution. These skills will be relevant not only in the context of the project, but also transferable to various situations in their daily lives.Participating organizations will benefit by building their capacity in conflict management, particularly in sports environments. They will gain practical knowledge and effective strategies to address conflict and prevent situations of violence. They will learn and share good practices in the prevention of sports violence, through the participants of this project. These practices can be implemented not only during the project, but also as part of future initiatives and programs. As a final result of the project, participants will create a social media campaign on violence in sport, where different documents of interest such as photos, videos or news will be shared. The organisations will actively promote this campaign, hoping to receive interaction from at least 50 people, thus raising awareness on this topic and involving mainly young people, organisations working on this topic and other stakeholders.
